ACTIONAID ZAMBIA LAUNCH ITS NEW STRATEGIC PLAN 2023-2028
ActionAid Zambia has launched it 2023-2028 Country Strategic Plan (CSP) that focuses on enhanced engagements with women, the young people and children in a bid to end poverty and exclusion.
The Zambian government has since pledged support to ActionAid Zambia to enable the organization actualize its CSP and serve the poor communities in its operational areas across the country deligently.
Minister of Community Development and Social Services Doreen Mwamba said the ActionAid CSP was in tandem with Zambia’s 8th National Development (8NDP) aiming to end poverty among the people.
In a speech read for her by southern Province Minister Cornelius Mweetwa , Mrs Mwamba said collaborations between the government and the Civil society Organizations (CSO) should be fortified further in the interest of the common citizenly.
The CSP is dubbed “ACTION FOR JUSTICE, FIGHTING INEQUALITIES FOR PEOPLE IN POVERTY AND EXCLUSION”.
She said gone were the days when government and the CSOs perceived each other as rivals but should instead compliments each other’s efforts.
She assured that CSOs that her government would formulate policies that would create a much conducive operational environment for everyone in Zambian especially those that are meant to serve humanity.
Mrs Mwamba particularly commended ActionAid for reaching out to the most remote parts of Zambia where the organization has been mobilizing and creating awareness in communities on strategies to end poverty.
And ActionAid Board Chairperson Pamela Sibanda explained that her orgasanition was more determined to reach out to the most vulnerable community to end poverty.
Her organization will continue working with the people living in poverty and exclusion to strengthen their collective awareness of their rights and realizations of their capacity and dignity.
She said there is need to understand the real causes of poverty among the people and through the launched CSP ActionAid hopes that longing question shall be answered.
The organization will endeavor to apply the Human Rights Based Approach in implementing the new CSP just as before.
The programming will give cognizant to the need for protection of Human Rights as being fundamental.
In implementing this strategic plan, Children, Women and Young people will be our focus. We have a conviction that we need to provide sustainable and lasting improvements in their lives and their respective host communities.
Swedish Embassy Head of Development Corporation in Zambia Susanna Huges said she has been Zambia for over three years and witnessed the great works that ActionAid was doing in communities. The embassy commended the launch of the new CSP as it would help it focus.
She said the CSP will require continue review so that it meets the expectations of the people and the organization.
The Swedish embassy also commended the Zambian government on its commitment to fight poverty and exclusion and the firm stance taken to fight corruption.
Ms Huges said corruption hits hardest against the most vulnerable and exacerbates poverty.
The ActionAid priority areas for the period 2023-2028 will be Environmental Sustainability and climate Change, Civic Participation and State accountability and lastly Transformative Youth Led Engagements.
